The reel comes ready for Left Hand Retrieve operation.

In order to change the reel from Left Hand Retrieve to Right Hand, unscrew (counter-clockwise) the knurled knob on the face of the spool. Lift the spool away from the reel frame (this may take some gentle wiggling). Invert the spool and in the centre of the hub is a 5-sided wire retaining clip. With a small screwdriver or a fine pair of needle-nosed pliers, remove the wire clip( If using a small screwdriver, partially cover the spool with your hand to prevent the clip from popping away from you). With the retaining clip out, the one-way bearing may be removed by inverting the spool and gently tapping it, inside face down on any surface. The bearing should just drop out. A metal inside bearing spacer may also drop out, place it back in the centre of the spool hub, before proceeding.

For Right-Hand Retrieve:
Place bearing into the hub with the metal shielded end of the bearing facing out.
For Left-Hand Retrieve:
Place bearing into the hub with the flat plastic end of the bearing facing out.

-Return the retaining clip back securely under the lip of the hub.
-Replace the spool on the frame by centering the spool on the axle and spinning the spool down until it seats, then gently (no cross threading allowed!) screw the knurled knob clockwise until snug.
